Case Study- Wishbone Pet Rescue Alliance
-Inspiring Donations Through Storytelling-
The Goal-
Wishbone Pet Rescue Alliance wanted to increase awareness of its mission while creating an emotional connection that would inspire donations and support pet adoptions.
The Challenge-
At previous fundraising events, Wishbone relied on guest speakers to share stories about the organization and its impact. While the message was meaningful, it became difficult to hold the audience's attention throughout the presentations. The organization wanted a more engaging way to communicate its mission—one that would captivate guests, emotionally connect them to the animals, and encourage them to give.
My Approach-
I created a documentary-style video that combined heartfelt interviews, authentic moments with rescued animals, and cinematic storytelling to bring Wishbone's mission to life. Rather than simply telling guests about the organization's impact, the video allowed them to see and feel it firsthand. The pacing, visuals, music, and personal stories were carefully crafted to keep viewers engaged from beginning to end while highlighting the life-changing work being done every day.
Deliverables-
A documentary-style fundraising film. Emotional storytelling focused on Wishbone's mission. Video was designed for fundraising events, community outreach, social media, and future donor engagement.
The Results-
The video premiered during Wishbone's annual fundraising event and immediately transformed the experience. Instead of losing the audience's attention during live presentations, guests remained engaged throughout the entire film, creating a more powerful emotional connection to the organization's mission. At that event alone, Wishbone Pet Rescue Alliance raised more than $36,000, demonstrating how compelling storytelling can inspire generosity and help nonprofits achieve meaningful fundraising results.
Key Takeaway-
Great storytelling has the power to move people to action. By replacing a traditional presentation with a professionally crafted documentary-style film, Wishbone was able to capture its audience's attention, strengthen its message, and create a memorable fundraising experience that helped generate significant support for its mission.
Case Study- Sperry's Moviehouse – 8th Street Eateries
-Turning Moviegoers into Restaurant Customers-
The Challenge-
Located in downtown Holland, 8th Street Eateries faced stiff competition from the many restaurants surrounding the theater. Although guests could conveniently order food by scanning a QR code from their movie seats and have it delivered directly to them, many people still followed the traditional "dinner first, then a movie" routine.
The challenge was simple: convince moviegoers that they didn't have to leave the theater district for dinner—they could enjoy a great meal and the movie all in one place.
The Strategy
To shift customer behavior, I created a series of videos designed to reach guests at multiple touchpoints throughout their experience.
The campaign included:
-A 10-second social media ad that quickly captured attention and promoted the convenience of dining at the theater.
-A one-minute cinematic commercial that played before every movie, introducing audiences to the food, atmosphere, and seat-side ordering experience.
-A looping food showcase displayed on the theater's lobby monitors, featuring mouthwatering visuals that encouraged guests to order before their show.
Each video focused on making the food look irresistible while reinforcing the unique convenience of having restaurant-quality meals delivered directly to your theater seat.
The Results
The campaign produced immediate, measurable success. Within just two weeks of launching the video content, food sales for 8th Street Eateries doubled.
By combining strategic storytelling with visually compelling food cinematography and placing the content where customers would see it throughout their visit, the campaign helped change purchasing habits and demonstrated how targeted video marketing can directly impact revenue.
Key Takeaway
This project is a great example of how video can do more than build brand awareness—it can influence customer behavior and deliver measurable business results. Through the right message, the right visuals, and the right placement, video helped transform the dining experience into a key part of the moviegoing experience
